It’s been a typically busy summer in Sahel thus far, with some rather large – and in charge – parties having already sent so many of us into the kind of murky depths of hung-over, fleeting euphoria that only the North Coast can give you.
Things are set to get even larger – and rumour has it, ‘in charger’ – on Friday 14th of August, however, as Theater of Dreams hits Sidi Abdel Rahman for the perfect marriage of electronic music and beachside shenanigans.
Taking place at Marseilia Beach 4, things kick off nice and early-ish at 3PM and go on till 3 in-da-morn’, with the likes of Barcelona-based DJ, Abou Samra, sibling duo, Gawdat, and rising dame of the decks, Akladios, scheduled to play. The festival is also set to welcome Student DJ 2013 winners, Aguizi & Fahim, and one of Cairo’s most rapidly rising – and tallest – DJs, A-Squared, as well as Misty, who has been in fine form since the release of Resistance in April, while M Fayek flies solo after turning heads alongside Sebzz with some impressive tag-team work this year. Meanwhile, Student DJ 2014 winner and super-loyal Cairo Gossip fan, Gaser, is teaming up with former SDJ rival and BESWORX label-mate, Chiati, for special back-to-back sets.
This will be the third TOD this year, following the festival’s debut in Nuweiba in January and the follow-up Easter edition at Space Sharm in April. Under the rule of Mahmoud Zidan, the rise of TOD is impressive, to say the least, and Zidan revealed in a May interview with Cairo Gossip that TOD will make a return to Sharm in September – stay tuned for that, but in the meantime, call 0111-968-7339.
