We’re still having trouble catching our breaths here at CG. The knowledge we’re about to drop on you will make the hype surrounding Daft Punk’s return look like an obscure filler-article hidden in the back pages of The Sun. It’s the debate all kids have been aching to settle over the years. It’s almost, but not quite, as big as that time Media Republic acquired Cairo Gossip
Zack Snyder has confirmed that Batman will fight alongside Superman on the big screen. Alfred, get the Bat Mobile ready.
The movie is set to begin production next year and while we’re all on a heavy dosage of DC Universe at the moment, one can’t help but wonder if this is too good to be true. Slow down a peg and think about it rationally. Such a film will attract an unparalleled amount of hype that we’ve only seen with The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises. Hell, we’ll bet you good money that there will be an even larger shindig surrounding this one.
However, this also adds heaps of pressure onto Mr. Snyder and it will make the task of concocting such an orgasmic masterpiece that more daunting. Prior to Man of Steel, there was not a single Superman movie that was worth two cents and Batman’s track record also has its ups and downs *cough* Joel Schumacher *cough*. One thing that is important to understand in regards to Warner Bros’ decision to combine DC Universe’s leading superheroes is that they’ve been falling behind Disney and Marvel in terms of profit. Moreover, the decision to add Batman into the fray was not DC Universe’s initial idea – a Justice League movie was in the works. Thank God that’s not happening! Any self respecting individual knows that a movie with Aqua Man in it is destined to crash and burn. Scepticism aside, there is a bright ray of hope shining, for Christopher Nolan is here to save us. As executive producer, it’s safe to say that he’ll have some say in the trajectory that this super of all superhero films will be heading.
Now a message on behalf of all geeks from around the world, and the ones and CG, too: Zack Snyder, don’t fuck this up.
