Classic Arab Singers Reimagined Today…
17 July 2016
The people behind the Tamt El Targama Facebook Page (check out this work showing Hollywood actors a rural Egyptians) have struck again with a new collection of images designed by Hany Rady showing Om Kalthoum, Abdel Halim Hafez and others with modern-day garb and hair. This funny-but-also-a-bit-freaky collection (Mohamed Abdel Wahab is frankly disconcerting) also translates their names into English with hilarious results – our favourite has got to be Nagat Al Sagheera: Survival the Small.
Om Kalthoum – Mother of Kalthoum (and she looks rather like Adele, doesn’t she?)

Farid El Atrach – Unique the Deaf

Sabah – Morning

Abdel Halim Hafez – The Patient’s Slave Memorise

Nagat El Sagheera – Survival the Small

Mohamed Abdel Wahab – The Giver’s Slave

Layla Mourad – Nightly Wanted

Mohamed Fawzy – Blessed My Wanted

Check out Tamt El Targama for funny memes and gifs on Arab pop culture.
