Way back when, in 2006, when my generation was just beginning to wake up to the cold realities of the world, the Godfather of Cairo’s increasingly diverse electronic music scene, Mahmoud Refat, gave birth to record label, 100Copies. Since then, 100Copies has been relentlessly and rightly championing the best and weirdest of the city’s underground musicians.
In 2007, the inaugural edition of 100Live Electronic Music Festival was launched, showcasing some of the most unique acts around – not the kind of musicians you’d find just anywhere in Egypt.
Now in its impressive eight year, the 2014 edition is set to bring together some familiar and not-so familiar face to the stage of Rawabet Theatre in Downtown Cairo on the 5th and 6th of June.
The first day of festivities sees Bikya, Wetrobots ♥ Bosiana, the Invisible Hands and NeoByrd perform, while Machinefabriek, Faze Miyake, $$$TAG$$$ and 101 take to the stage on the second day.
Doors open at 8PM and entry is free. It turns out that some of the best things in life are, in fact, for free.
