The nightmarish soap opera that is the Trump Presidency has descended further into absurdity with the news that the US is to ban travellers from taking laptops, tablets and other medium-to-large electronics on flights from Cairo International Airport.
Though the White House has yet to make an officials statement, a government official revealed a list of 10 airports that will be effected by the ban, all but one of which are in the Middle East and North Africa:
-Cairo International Airport, Egypt
-Dubai International, United Arab Emirates
-Abu Dhabi International, United Arab Emirates
-Hamad International, Doha, Qatar
-King Abdulaziz International, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
-King Khalid International, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
-Kuwait International Airport
-Mohammed V International, Casablanca, Morocco
-Queen Alia International, Amman, Jordan
-Ataturk Airport, Istanbul, Turkey
The ban is said to include larger electronics such as laptops, tablets, cameras and electronic games, but not mobile phones and medical devices. The ban comes amidst another travel ban imposed by Trump’s White House which has prohibited incoming travellers from seven different mostly Muslim countries.
Airlines effected will be officially told of the ban 3AM ET (7AM GMT) on Tuesday.
