This weekend is the time to spread your wings and emerge from the darkness of Cairo’s bars and clubs. It may seem a somewhat sacrilegious idea, but there’s plenty of other things happening to satisfy all – from food and drink to fashion and style.
SHOT! @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Coming to you from the dodgy streets of South East London, SHOT! are unleashing their punk-spunk all over Cairo Jazz Club. Whether they’ll be spitting at the crowd and fighting each other – a la the Sex Pistols – has yet to be disclosed.
SEAFOOD FESTIVAL @ FAIRMONT NILE CITY
(Thursday till all the seafood in Egypt is finished)
As one of the most popular hotels in Cairo, Fairmont Nile City doesn’t do things by halves – and this is no different. With an open buffet and live music at Napa Grill, you might as well just book a room for this.
CAIRO RUNNERS HALF MARATHON @ CAIRO FESTIVAL CITY
In the wee hours of Friday morning, hoards of Cairenes will fill the streets of New Cairo for Cairo Runners‘ latest fitness fest, in the form of a half-marathon. In addition, there will be lots of non-running fun to be had, which is why I’m taking a bottle of suncream and my flask.
FASHION GARAGE @ ACC, ZAMALEK
Without doubt one of the biggest perennial fashion events in Egypt, Fashion Garage is finally back! In addition to boasting a kaleidoscope of clothes, jewellery and furniture vendors, the event will feature plenty for Cairo’s fashionistas to sink their teeth into. Find out more here.
HOUSE OBSESSION @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
The only thing that Cairo loves more than a house DJ, is three house DJs, and that’s what’s on the menu at Cairo Jazz Club, as Niazi, Hady Tarek and Fabric go back-to-back for a quintessential CJC Friday.
For more ‘things to do in Cairo this weekend’, keep a keen eye on the CG events calendar. In fact, why not go ahead and just bookmark it.
