  • Things to Do in Cairo This Week

    things2

The weather has take an unfortunate turn – thanks, Global Warming – but there’s plenty to see and do across Cairo this week; from a legendary, gloriously-moustachioed Egyptian band, to two of the country’s best alternative bands, to a glow party and more. Check out the events that will keep your head above water before the weekend.

LE PETITS CHATS @ CAIRO OPERA HOUSE
    (Sunday)

We begin on a slightly, nay very, different note than usual. There aren’t as many glorious moustaches between them these days, but Le Petits Chats are still cooler than any of us will ever be and are set to perform at Cairo Opera House this week.

    URBAN SUNDAY @ THE TAP
(Sunday)Meanwhile, in Maadi, the Tap is beginning its week at the other endof the musical scale – this week’s edition of Urban Sunday is in the hands of bar favourite, Fat Sam. Expect lots of phat hip-hop and r&b. Because it’s Fat Sam.

GLOW PARTY: AGUIZI & FAHIM + GAWDAT @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
    (Monday)

Glow parties are cool and all and, in this case, will take the headlines. However, you should be more excited about the line-up at Cairo Jazz Club on Monday, as two of the most talented DJ duos in Egypt, Aguizi & Fahim and Gawdat, take to the decks.

MACHINE EAT MAN + TELEPOETIC @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
    (Tuesday)

The second of several big nights at Cairo Jazz Club this week sees two of the country’s finest peddlers of alternative music perform, with Machine Eat Man set to debut some new material, before Telepoetic close the night.

BEL 3ARABY FT. HOH @ RIVERSIDE
    (Wednesday)
    12647261_876214842497576_8455917501138007023_n
Bel 3araby has been a surprise hit for Riverside since it launched and this week’s edition of the quintessentially Oriental night sees what one might call a super-band, HOH, take to the stage – Hany Adel, Ousso Lotfy and Hany El Dakkak.

    B-SIDE BY NACELLE @ CAFE D’NIL
    (Wednesday)
    12642774_568138120776_5501697886802670518_n
There seems to be no stopping the Nacelle train these days – four recurring events is no easy juggle – but B-Side remains one of the most unique nights of music you can enjoy in the city, with this week’s line-up featuring head honcho, Tito, and the increasingly popular Abdo (aka Klady).
