There’s a decent spattering of events this week across Cairo to keep you going strong until the weekend, with the likes of the Tap, Cairo Jazz Club, Nacelle and Pashion Magazine vying for your attention, as well as your will to brave the increasingly cold weather in the capital. Brrrr.
URBAN SUNDAY FT. RAMY DJUNKIE @ THE TAP
While the Tap has, quite organically, become a favourite spot for the more alternative side of music in Cairo, the Maadi bar has no shame in indulging in a spot of hip-hop and r&b, especially when the man in charge is Ramy DJunkie and it’s a Sunday.
EFTEKASAT ALBUM LAUNCH @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Eftekasat are rarely mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Massar Egbari, Wust El Balad, et al, but they’re certainly just as accomplished and enduring, with the proof very much in the pudding. Said pudding comes in the form of a special gig that will see the group launch their latest album. Yummy.
MINUS T + ZALAT + SHAWKY @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Cairo Gossip has never hidden it’s love of Minus T and this week sees the versatile DJ take to the decks as part of a tasty-looking night that also includes DJs Zalat and SHawky – very decent range of music between the three that we rarely see on one line-up.
CAIRO’S FASHION NIGHTS 5 @ FIRST MALL
The fashion fiends at Pashion Magazine are hitting the road for the fifth edition of Cairo’s Fashion Nights. Set to be held at Giza’s First Mall, the event – which has become somewhat of an occasion on Cairo fashion calendars -will see some of the biggest brands in Cairo take over the mall for a day of browsing, touching and then changing your mind about a dress.
B-SIDE BY NACELLE @ CAFE D’NILE
With up to four concepts running simultaneously this season, there’s no shortage of Nacelle events right now and though Funk N Pop and Behind Closed Doors have proven to be hits, nothing quite beats B-Side. This week, the men in charge of the decks come in the form of Mohamed Sadek and Génial.
