If you’re lucky enough to be a future resident of swanky new destination, NEWGIZA, the world is quite literally your oyster. Whether you want a smashing night out, a Michelin-style dinner, the best entertainment venues in Egypt, or whether you just want to be pampered like the King/Queen you are, NEWGIZA’s surroundings have got something for you.
Let’s talk about something we all, without question, are massively into – food. There’s something for everyone around NEWGIZA; you can grab lunch at one of Cairo’s most enduring chains, Crave, grab a shisha at the inexplicably popular Golio’s or kick back and order some food for deliver from Casper & Gambini’s. Looking for something a bit more swish? European artisan restaurant Ovio has been pleasing palates of late, while the legendary Charwood’s has found a home in the area.
Other big names like Abou El Sid, Ayadina and Pomme De Pain are at the mercy of NEWGIZA residents and there seems to be no end in sight for the amount of eateries that are set to open across 6th of October City.
6th of October City might not be renowned for its nightlife, but as locals will tell you, there are plenty of options for the brazenly shameless. Though Zamalek’s Le Pacha has seen better days, Le Pacha West has emerged as one of the most popular nightspots in the area, housing Johnny’s – with a weekly Tuesday karaoke night – as well as Carlo’s and Piccolo Mondo. A few steps away is burger-bar-come-just-bar, Gigi, while Maadi bar, the Tap, is set to capitalise on its seemingly infinite popularity with a new branch in the area set to open soon. Old Octoberites seem to have a soft spot for Tempo, while Indigo is famous for flashy cocktails.
Cairo residents find themselves venturing to October whenever they want to do something fun. The IMAX cinema is the go-to place for hot new releases (particularly the 3D HD blockbuster type), while Escapology caters to the most restless among us – why wouldn’t you want to break out of ‘Hitler’s Office’?
Adrenalin Park is the envy of every adrenaline-junkie in Africa; offering four different Paintball courts, Laser Tag, water-gun fights, and Treasure Hunts.
Sakkara Country Club is but a short car ride away, too, while the area also boasts the very recently opened Dogmania – for your noble pet’s pleasure. For the more athletic amongst us, there’s a sweet bowling alley, and the opportunity to play – get this – ‘Bubble Football’. Outstanding.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
Healthy living in every sense of the word has very much been at the heart of NEWGIZA’s ethos and there are plenty of outlets for healing mind, body and soul close by, with NEWGIZA being central to all the top venues.
Some of the biggest names in fitness are within arm’s reach, including GOLD’s Gym, Samia Allouba and Curves, while cult-followed organizations such as MMA and martial arts hub, Fight & Fitness Factory, as well as crossfit specialists, Engine 38, are also at your service.
In terms of wellness – which is a pretty weird term – more big names are available around NEWGIZA, including Mohamed Al Sagheer and Kriss – so you can get your hair did on the regular.
