  • Mohamed El Shorbagy Wins 2018 the Hong Kong Squash Open title for the Fourth Time!

    El Gouna Squash Day 2-132

Egyptian champion, Mohamed El Shorbagy, has given us another reason to be proud of him. For the fourth time in his career, El Shorbagy has won the Hong Kong Squash Open title after a steamy match with another top-tier player, the Egyptian Ali Farag; the match concluded with the score of 3-0.

Starting his Squash career at only 15, he was coached by the icon Jonah Barrington in 2006. Later, he reached his first milestone when he won the World Junior Championship twice in 2008 and 2009, being the second Egyptian man, after Ramy Ashour, to enter the history books of the sport.

He unlocked yet another achievement, when he ranked no.1 worldwide, not once, but twice, in November 2014 and in March 2018.

Mohamed El Shorbagy isn’t the only squash player in his family, as his younger brother Marwan El Shorbagy (ranked No. 5 worldwide) made it to the World Series Platinum event’s semifinals at the Kuwait PSA Cup in 2013.

The brothers actually went head-to-head it for a title at El Gouna International Squash Open (it wasn’t the first time this had happened!). Earlier we had seen them playing against each other at the PSA World Championship 2017.

Congratulations, Shorbagy, you’re making Egypt proud!
