Our very own fierce fashion designer, Farida Temraz, has won the ‘Best Female Couture Designer’ award at New York Fashion Week, where she showcased her latest line, ‘The Xecutive’, on February 12th.
The award was presented to Temraz in recognition of her hard work, red carpet appearances and overall achievement in the four years since she started her high-end international couture brand.
“I am overwhelmed and full of tears in my eyes!,” says Temraz. “It all started with a dream and big passion! I want to thank every single person supported me and believed in me.”
The runway collection also featured Egyptian jewelry brand, ZAGH. “The collection showcased is very much what ZAGH is about – a woman that is confident and proud, one that celebrates her femininity but is vicious when defined by it,” says Lead Designer of ZAGH Riham Zaghloul.
Many celebrities have been spotted on red carpets all over the globe sporting Temraza ensembles, most recently, LA Basketball Wife, Gloria Govan, when she attended Halle Berry’s Entrepreneur Magazine Gala this month (pictured).
Among others who wore Temraz’s designs were emerging Grey’s Anatomy actress Jillian Reeves, as well as singer Daya, who just won the ‘Best Dance Recording’ Grammy award for featuring in the Chainsmokers’ Don’t Let Me Down.
“We will bring Egypt back on the Fashion Map!,” Temraz posted on social media after winning the award.
