  • Egypt Climbs 38 Places on the Environmental Performance Index in 2018

The environmental risks we humans – especially Egyptians – pose to Mother Nature are numerous. However, nowadays, more awareness is spreading on global warming and its inevitable catastrophes if we fail at protecting the environment, and it pleasures us to know that Egypt moved from the 104th position in 2016 to the 66th in the 2018 Environmental Performance Index (EPI), The Planning Minister, Hala el Saeed, told Egypttoday.com.

Almost half a year ago, Cairo was ranked as the second noisiest city in the world. A few months later, another report indicated that Cairo took the lead at being the most polluted city on earth.

One month after the last report was published, the Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, announced that Egypt would launch a new hotline for the public to report rubbish that has been dumped on the street. So has this hotline affected Egypt’s environmental performance?

It is important to note that, in Egypttoday.com’s report, El Saeed also highlighted that Egypt climbed to the 24th position in the 2019 Climate Change Index.
