If there was ever any doubt about the popularity of Real Madrid footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, the existence of the Portuguese forward’s own clothes brand and chain of stores only proves that he is, indeed, the biggest name in football today. It also says something worrying about the cult of celebrity and modern consumerism, but that’s a story for another day.
Egypt is just as crazy for Cristiano as anywhere else in the world and fans will be able to shop for Ronaldo goodies from Thursday 7th of January at the newest CR7 store, which is set to open at City Center according to this Facebook event. Selling everything from CR7 branded underwear and socks, to casual and formal shirts, the shop will be unveiled at 7PM.
Not content with lending his name to fashion, however, Ronaldo announced at the end of 2015 that he would be teaming up with Portugal’s biggest hotel chain, Pestana, to open four CR7 hotels. This is in addition to record-breaking player’s museum, Museu CR7, located on his home island of Madeira and the release of documentary, Ronaldo, which was actually received pretty well by critics. If that doesn’t make you hate him enough, the European Southern Observatory also named a galaxy CR7 in his honour back in June.
In conclusion, CR7 is opening in Alexandria and we couldn’t be happier. Bad luck Messi fans.
