The car-loving petrol-head behind the 2014 Cairo to Sokhna Classic Car Run, Mahmoud Ezzeldin of Vintage Wheels Egypt, is sending out a call to all classic car owners for a very special event in January.
The Cairo Classic Meet – said to be the first of its kind in Egypt – is set to welcome hundreds of vintage automobiles on January 16th at Smart Village, where a day of oohing and aahing awaits.
Spurred by the fact that so many classic cars are left to rust in garages across the city, Ezzeldin's weakness for wheels has seen him involved in a number of huge car events, including last year's Cairo-to-Sokhna run. The event attracted plenty of attention further ashore and shed light on Ezzeldin and Vintage Wheels Egypt's impressive back-catalogue of mapping, route planning, organising and documenting similar automobile events, including several editions of the Egypt's Classic Automobile Awards, the London to Cape Town Record Run (2013) and the Ford Model T Charity World Tour (2013), amongst many others.
The meet is set to be a day for the whole family, with plenty to see and do including a parade and the premiere of a specially made film featuring rare Egyptian footage.
For those interested in participating, only cars that are pre-1989 manufactured can enter, for a nominal fee of 50LE.
