As we get closer to the Audi Cup 2013, one team in particular have more on the line than the others. After completing a perfect 2012-1013 season, during which the Bavarians clinched an impressive treble (German League, cup and European champions), Bayern Munich are ready to unleash their 2013/2014 team onto the world as the hosts of this year’s Audi Cup.
This will be first time we witness Bayern Munich’s new manager, Pep Guardiola, and though it’s a friendly competition, the former Barcelona captain and boss will be itching to send an early message to rivals, as he begins the daunting task of topping last season’s heroics. With the likes of Arjen Robben, Bastian Schweinsteiger and new boys, Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara, posing a commanding presence on the pitch, you can bet we’re on the cusp of an era of German excellence.
Not unlike Audi, Bayern Munich have, in the last few years, combined classic German efficiency with flair and creativity. Early favourites for the Audi Cup? Our money’s on Bayern.
