The blue half of Manchester, or the noisy neighbours as some like to call them, has slowly been breaking into the football elite over the last five years. Subject to a ruthless khaligi takeover, Manchester City have been riding high and have attracted global superstars such as Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and David Silva.
City have also undergone a change in management by sacking Roberto Mancini after a disappointing 2012-2013 campaign which saw the club relinquish the league throne back to arch rivals, Manchester United. Alas, that is now history and Manuel Pellegrini has been recruited to usher in a new age. The Chilean boss has wasted no time and delved into the club’s checkbook by acquiring four players for a range of hefty sums.
One thing is certain, Manchester City are coming back with a vengeance, and this year’s Audi Cup is the team’s chance to make an early statement.
