Like some kind of sick, twisted dream, reports have this week emerged suggesting that a global wine shortage is nigh. Downtrodden housewives, the French and my mother are furious.
These shocking claims come on the back of a report published by Morgan Stanley Research and the findings are pretty bleak. Last year, supply for wine only just exceeded its demand, and it looks like winos everywhere could be in for a rough few years.
In the last fifteen years, global wine consumption has , by-and-large, increased, and now it seems that production just can't keep up.
But it's not all bad; the report also suggests that a few decent harvests will do the trick. All that we can do now is pray to the grape gods.
