  • 6 Egyptians Qualify for the Obama Leadership Program

Egyptian Streets reported that six Egyptians will be partaking in the Obama Leadership Program. This leadership program selects 200 young entrepreneurs from 44 African countries. In the one-year program, they are set to “train, support, and connect African leaders to create positive change in their communities.”

The names of the qualified individuals are, Hossam Eldeen Abdelfatah, Mostafa Amin, Yara Al-Braidy, Sara Gabr, Mohamed Shaheen, and Alia Soliman.

Each of the aforementioned names have taken pivotal roles in influencing Egyptian society. For example, Alia Soliman works at HarassMap NGO and is a women’s rights advocate, and Mostafa Amin is the Co-founder of Egyptian Streets.

Egypt has been witnessing a boom in entrepreneurial activities and startups over the past couple of years, and this has paved the way for a lot of young Egyptians. Most recognisable is Instabug, an application developed by Omar Gabr and Moataz Soliman, which received a $1.7M capital raise in 2016.
