The Egyptian people are a passionate bunch; be it politics, football or the age-old conundrum of where they’re spending Eid vacation, nothing gets Egyptian hearts racing like a hearty debate – debates that even extend to food, glorious food!
Even at Media Republic headquarters, the office discussion of what to order for lunch more often than not turns into a full-blown brainstorming session, which then usually descends into a shouting match.
It's this seemingly engrained appreciation of food in Cairo that has given life to what looks set to be the biggest food event in Egypt, Cairo Bites.
Described as a 'food showcase' by organisers Magda Gomaa and co, Cairo Bites is shaping up to be a carnival of food and drink that even the fussiest of eaters won't be able to resist. Some of the biggest names in the local food and beverage industry set to take part in the event, which will take place on Saturday 26th of April at the gorgeous architectural marvel that is Baron Palace in Heliopolis.
From a diner's perspetive, this is food paradise - think of how many different options you'll have - but it also presents a great way for local businesses to showcase their cuisines and products in a setting befitting of Egypt's food obsession.
