The fleeting fun of a weekend what was a big weekend of parties is behind us as the the cold, harsh reality of life as an adult settles in – the struggle is so real. But worry not, Cairo’s bars and clubs are serving up an eclectic buffet of music, dancing and drinking this week, with some of the week’s highlight events coming at the Tap, Cairo Jazz Club, the Garden, VENT and more.
URBAN SUNDAY FT. RAMY DJUNKIE @ THE TAP
The Tap‘s start-of-the-week kick-off, Urban Sunday, has been a conveyor belt of the grooviest, funkiest and boogiest purveyors of hip-hop and r&b and this week, the man in charge of the music at the Maadi bar, is one of the grooviest, funkiest and boogiest cats around, DJ Ramy DJunkie.
A-SQUARED + SHADY EZZ @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to refer to A-Squared as one of the most promising young DJs in Cairo right now – his tech house sets have been bringing the proverbial boys to the yard. It’s also wouldn’t be a stretch to refer to him as the tallest DJs in Cairo right now – he’s like, really tall. This week he opens at Cairo Jazz Club for a veteran of the nightlife game, the one and only Shady Ezz.
CELEBRATING MUSIC & FASHION @ THE GARDEN
The intangible Red.Move.Now movement continues and this time the spotlight is on music AND fashion at Korba bar, the Garden, under the watchful, sun-glassed eye of local fashion blogger and Berna Ibrahim. Berna will of course be taking care of the fashion part, but music comes courtesy of local DJs, SHawky and Asser Nabil.
THE GENTS VS RIVER MERMAIDS @ RIVERSIDE
An epic battle of the sexes is set to ensue this week at Zamalek’s Riverside, as DJs Ayoub, Eve and old friend of Cairo Gossip and CG Tunes regular, Hussein Gamal, take to the decks with an arsenal of deep house. The event is the latest of one of Riverside’s newest series and is helping shine the spotlight on some of Cairo’s up-and-coming DJs.
NEOBYRD @ VENT
What do you say about NeoByrd? Not unlike his feathered brethren, he sores high into the night sky, only occasionally lowering himself to the depths of earth to impart musical messages, nay, proclamations, on us undeserving, wingless ground dwellers. And by that we mean he’s playing at Downtown playground of the alternative, VENT.
