This working week seemed a bit useless, what with the empty streets on Monday, the bewildering vacation on Tuesday, the traffic jams on Wednesday, and the hangover I’m nursing today. Luckily, the weekend is only a couple of hours away and with the series of events taking place, next week is shaping up to be deja vu.
MASSAR EGBARI @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Live and relevant music? Yes please. Throw in the fact that they’re from Alexandria and I’ve just given ‘salt lick’ a completely literal meaning.
DEEPLY @ NILE MAXIM
A three DJ line-up of local house music maestros that will make you ponder the most important party question: can I dance without spilling my cocktail or should I order a beer?
Probably the only event that has successfully combined my love for early morning drinks and art. On a related note, I only know anything about art while I’m drinking.
HOUSE SESSIONS BY NACELLE @ THE TEMPLE
I’m going to give myself the liberty and assume that this is an invitation to go ahead and unleash the ‘labwa’ inside me. I’m looking forward to knowing which animal I go as next week.
You need to widen your net when searching for new and interesting music to listen to, and luckily, Cairo has an entire fish market dedicated to doing that for you. It works for me because there’s nothing I quite like better than wearing a smug look on my face because I recognise the track everyone is dancing too.
