While Saturday’s dry night will cut the weekend short for the city’s clubbing collective, Cairo’s bars and clubs are serving up some top events on Thursday and Friday – try and look at it in a glass-half-full kind-of way. At least you’ll get a decent night’s sleep and wake up fresh(ish) on Sunday morning, right?
SOUAD MASSI @ THE MARQUEE
Ok, so not a bar or a club, but Cairo Jazz Club Agency are involve, so let’s just move one. Anyway, Algerian songstress, Souad Massi, returns to Cairo after several gigs in Egypt last summer for what is shaping up to be the biggest live music event of the weekend – another notch on the Marquee‘s growing belt.
AMR HOSNY @ THE TAP EAST
We don’t get to see the Godfather of the Egyptian DJing scene, Amr Hosny, publicly dropping bombs, so to speak, as often these days, but the veteran is set to kick off the weekend at the Tap East in New Cairo.
KLADY + AHMED SALAH @ ZIGZAG
From the bright lights of the Tap, to the strangely satisfying darkness of Zigzag; the Downtown Cairo bar continues to champion up-and-coming DJs, with Klady and Ahmed Salah, set to take to the decks.
RIVERDEEP FT. FAIROUZ T. @ RIVERSIDE
(Friday)There’s rarely a dull night at Riverside these days and the increasingly popular Zamalek venue is set to welcome back a firm favourite among regulars, Fairouz T., for this weekend’s edition of weekly party, Riverdeep.
MOHASSEB @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Whether it’s Manic Monday, Friday Fever or even Sexy Saturday (that last one’s not real), Cairo Jazz Club favourite, Mohasseb, only ever has one goal – to make you flail wildly to his high0energy progressive house sets. Flail is such a good word.
