  • Things to Do in Cairo This Weekend

    thingsh

A big weekend awaits across Cairo’s bars and clubs weekend, guys – we say that every week, but this time we really mean it. From the Tap and Cairo Jazz Club, to the Temple and the Omar Khayyam boat, Egypt’s capital will be awash with plastered partygoers. Join us, for we are the future of a world with no future – here are the top events of the weekend.

    ALY B @ THE TAP
    (Thursday)

Widely regarded as one of the best DJs in Cairo, the enigmatic Aly B – who some say doesn’t really exist and is actually a pseudonym used interchangeably by members of a mysterious and dangerous DJ collective – returns to Maadi bar, the Tap.

AMRO & THE BIG BANG KARAOKE SPECIAL @CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
    (Thursday)
    12669443_10153955049786967_705234867753671006_n
Having been regulars at Cairo Jazz Club for the last few months, Amro & the Big Bang Boogie are taking a huge gamble on their own reputation by letting us amateurs take to the stage with them. Don’t embarrass them, Cairo. Shape up.

MARC WAHBA + OMAR EL SABH + FAYEK @ ZIGZAG
    (Thursday)
    12662565_731824810252676_8743321643317223397_n
Stealing the prize for Artwork I’d Most Like to Make into a Cool Hipster T-Shirt this weekend once again, the man who brought Zigzag to life, Marc Wahba, debuts at the Downtown bar, with Omar El Sabh and Fayek also on the line-up.
    __________

THE TEMPLE CLUB SERIES FT. LEE VAN DOWSKI @ THE TEMPLE
    (Thursday)
    12715614_10153907165972505_4382287128371625081_n
Let us not judge the Temple for booking Lee Van Dowski for the second time in three editions of their ‘club series’ – nor for the wrong date on the artwork, lest we be judged ourselves. At least there’s Abou Samra. No, wait – they booked him when they had Van Dowski last time, too.

SUPAFLY PRESENTS: GHETTO LOVE FT. EVE @ OMAR KHAYYAM BOAT
    (Friday)
    12647454_10153261918501712_516357323189334_n
In arguably the biggest event of the weekend, the fellows at Supafly are set to welcome Grammy Award-winning rapper, Eve, for a huge party. She may be concentrating on her acting these days, but like, Eve is like a an actual, proper, real rap star, you guys.
    __________

MUSIC SQUARE @ VILLA AL BASHARI
    (Friday)

The whole outdoor, multi-act, pseudo-festival being pioneered by Nacelle these days has become infectious and Music Square is shaping up to be a very pleasant day out, with the likes of Ahmet Kilic and OMR & ADRY among the names for this event.
    __________

VALENTINE’S RIVERDEEP FT. DJ FUZZY & AYMAN NAGEEB @ RIVERSIDE
    (Friday)
    12670196_1671599946455275_7944875841086076582_n
There’s some kind of Valentine’s pun in here somewhere – fuzzy feelings, et al – but let’s not go there, as DJ Fuzzy & Ayman Nageeb provide the music for Riverside‘s lovey dovey edition of Riverdeep.
    ___________

HISHAM ZAHRAN + ALY GOEDE + HASSAN ABOU ALAM @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
    (Friday)
    12592493_1205706296124204_5950735401777592430_n
Friday at Cairo Jazz Club is set to be quite a night, as three of the most musically distinct DJs around, in Hisham Zahran, Aly Goede and Hassan Abou Alam, take to the decks. #LookAtThatCat
    __________

    KIDMIMS; @ THE TAP
    (Saturday)
    kidmims1
Saturdays at the Tap are usually reserved for live music, but this time round, the Maadi bar is set to end the weekend on a slightly more rambunctious note, as kidmims; take to the stage. #LookAtThatHat
