  • Things to Do in Cairo This Weekend

    things6

Christmas is just around the corner and with it comes the usual festive malarkey. Depending on your disposition, this is either good new or bad news, but if you lean towards the latter, fear not – you still have a solid week of events to get stuck into. Check out the best events of the weekend across Egypt’s capital.

MASSAR EGBARI @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB

Love them, hate them, meh them, Massar Egbari can’t be ignored. Though the five man Alexandrian group could be considered veterans of the local music scene, 2015 has seen them propel themselves as one of the biggest bands in the country. This weekend, they return to Cairo Jazz Club, where they’ve always put on quite the show.

There’s no House Sessions this week, but the folks at Nacelle are coming out to play as part of the seemingly ceaseless Give Me Another Shot series. Save your sighs and disappointments, though, because the man charged with providing the music is none other than New York DJ, Dennis Ferrer, with In2Deep on opening duties.

This weekend, the latest edition of Riverdeep welcomes veteran Junior and one of the hottest up-and-coming DJs in Cairo, Fairouz T.

Having crept up on everyone seemingly out of nowhere, Mohandiseen bar, Underground, has managed to become a bit of a hotspot for alternative music on another wise rather samey nightlife scene. This weekend, REGGANG – who found a cult following with several gigs at VENT over the last year and a half – take to the stage for a night of reggae, obvs.

PROCESSION TOWARDS THE UNKNOWN @ BALCON LOUNGE
