It’s all kicking off across Cairo’s bars and clubs this weekend as we approach another chockablock program of adolescent boozing, dancing and a little more boozing. No drugs, though. Drugs are bad.
JUNK PRESENTS: SIOPIS @ NILE MAXIM
Nile Maxim has got rid of some junk to welcome another type of Junk this weekend, as a formerly abandoned storage space aboard the Zamalek boat plays host to rather tasty night of music featuring local favourites, Tamer Auf and Samio, and Berlin DJ, SIOPIS, booked. Nice.
CHRISTMAS BASH @ ONTOP
(Thursday)DJs Ramy and SHawky are celebrating Christmas early with event organiser, the Bash, at often ignored Nile-side venue, OnTop in Zamalek. Just looking at Bad Santa up there suggests that this one is going to get messy – the good kind.
If anyone can pay homage to the original crooner, it could only be Ahmed Harfoush. At Saigon on Thursday, gents are required to wear fedoras and, in true Rat Pack style, women needn’t wear anything at all.
If there’s still any snow up there on them hills, this party is hot enough to melt it all – did you see what I did there? Lame wordplay aside, Electrum Records have put together an impressive line-up headlined by UK based DJ, Betoko. Merry Christmas indeed.
In a tag-team kind of way, Cairo Jazz Club unleashing awesome live Oriental house band, Soopar Lox, on the crowds, before Safi finishes them off. You won’t know how it happened, but you will want a cigarette after.
CITY LIGHTS: FASHION SHOW @ TAMARAI
Retail Group & Alcatel bring the sexiest high-street brands to Tamarai for an orgasm of a fashion show that will see a whole host of brands show off their new winter collections; everything from Nine West and Steve Madden, to Aldo and GAP. Break open the piggy bank, it’s time to splurge.
As always, there’s plenty more on the über cool Cairo Gossip events calendar.
