This weekend is going to be different – and not because most of Cairo’s bars and clubs are mellowing down for winter. No, this is totally and completely a personal decision to get a little cultured and take a break from binge drinking and exposing people to my awesome break dancing skills.
DJ AMR HOSNY @ O BAR
This one time, a guy I know wouldn’t give a slot to one of Amr Hosny‘s friends, so Amr Hosny had the guy’s prized pitbull’s head put in his…no I’m so kidding, but you can’t think of Amr Hosny without the Godfather theme looping inside your head. Try it. It’s impossible.
ELFIT FITNESS FESTIVAL VOLUME 3 @ THE BRITISH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IN CAIRO
(Friday & Saturday)
It seems that every time I try to do something healthy or even moderately good for me, I turn into Afro Man. The ELFIT Fitness Festival is just what I need to force me back into a normal lifestyle; one that doesn’t confuse playing computer games with activity.
I’m going to be honest; my definition of ‘class’ is a hybrid of ‘Mad Men’ and ‘The Animaniacs’, but I’ve read the book and I have the clothes and that seems to work fine for everyone else that I know. Plus, this event will give me the excuse I need to whip out the furs and that foot-long cigarette holder.
Get your Christmas do-gooding out of the way for an early charity shindig at Zamalek’s Aquarium Garden. The 10LE entrance fee goes to charity and you’ll get the chance to sample the delights of Cairo’s finest eateries. Bring a wrapped present as well to give the orphans something to open on Christmas. God, I’m tearing up just writing this.
For December, Alchemy has changed up the art, but kept the ever so important Bloody Marys. This month sees the man behind the intricate artwork seen on Alchemy’s menu, Thaer Jrab, on display. A couple of those Bloody Marys and I’ll be buying up the whole lot. I’ve made stranger financial decisions.
