If I hear one more person complain about the cold, I’m going to bend him (or her, if I must) over my knee. This weekend, there are plenty of gigs and parties across Cairo’s bars and clubs to keep you warm. And if they don’t keep you warm, the alcohol will fool your brain into thinking so anyway. Win, win.
DANNY MALAK + GLASS ONION @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
(Thursday)Dreamy-eyed guitarist, Danny Malak, kicks things of at Cairo Jazz Club, before Egyptian Beatles cover band, Glass Onion, salute John, George, Paul and Ringo with covers of the Liverpudlians’ classics.
MOLTEN AMBER @ ALCHEMY
Revel in the golden nectar that is whiskey, as you feel the burn with every satisfying swig at Alchemy. If an event called Molten Amber doesn’t keep you warm, I don’t know what will.
HOUSE SESSIONS BY NACELLE: CHOPSTICK & JOHNJON @ THE TEMPLE
They may sound like characters from a weird Cartoon Network cartoon, but Berlin-based duo, Chopstick & Johnjon, tore the house (sessions) down last time Nacelle brought them to Cairo and a repeat is well on the cards. Aly Goede opens.
DJ MOHASSEB @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Look at that face – that’s what you call intensity. Friday’s at Cairo Jazz Club are traditionally a little flat, but CJC has been showing much more love to the holy day as of late and this weekend is no different with Mohasseb on the decks.
