Hurrah and hooray, for the weekend has arrived with a whole host of ways to spend your hard earned cash in an attempt to give your life meaning, only to find that the shallow form of euphoria that the human mind can handle can only ever be fleeting. Here are the best parties across Cairo’s bars and clubs this weekend. Smile and be happy.
STUDENT DJ 2014: NOUR FAHMY VS MARC WAHBA @ OMAR KHAYYAM BOAT
The fifth and final battle of the top ten finalist round of this year’s Student DJ is upon us meaning it’s only a matter of time before we discover which four budding DJs will be moving a step closer to becoming Electrum Records’ newest whipping boy. God speed, fellas.
HOUSE SESSIONS BY NACELLE @ THE TEMPLE
The pop-up pharmacy that is Nacelle‘s House Sessions welcomes New York DJ duo, Bedouin, this weekend, with local act, Fulltone, completing the line-up for a night of good, wholesome, legal fun.
DJ MOHASSEB @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
I just can’t diss Mohasseb. Like any DJ in Cairo, he has detractors, but his music does things to my body that no man, woman or rubber-coated gadgetry can ever do.
RIVERDEEP FT. SHAGGY + LINA MARWAN @ RIVERSIDE
Zamalek’s Riverside is more accustomed to the smooth voice of Ahmed Harfoush and the cold lights the iPad he plays his backing tracks on during live performances, but this weekend, things are getting hot and heavy with the second edition of Riverdeep, with music coming from Sherif ‘Shaggy‘ El Awadi and Student DJ competitor, Lina Marwan.
SUPSIDY @ VENT
Another self-satisfyingly convoluted night awaits you at VENT this weekend, with Sidy returning with an ‘audio/video’ party. The only thing anyone really knows it is, is what it’s not. No deep house (I can live with that), no PDA (challenge accepted) and no drugs (ha!).
