There are big things happening across Cairo’s bars and clubs this weekend, including the arrival of a (kind of) new bar, familiar faces in new places, live music, art and more Thursday night fun at the Temple…
DISCOTECTURE FT. NUERNBERG @ THE TEMPLE
I don’t wear Vans, I don’t drink Heineken, but I do love Absolut. Now that I’ve got that shameless plug out of the way, let’s talk about this week’s edition of Discotecture, featuring German duo, Kruse & Nuernberg: they’re pretty good, apparently. That’s all I have to say on that.
UP 2 DANCE: AGUIZI & FAHIM @ O BAR
Fairmont Nile City is stepping its game up this weekend, with hot duo, Aguizi and Fahim, gearing up for a big night at O Bar. Despite the goofy looks on their faces, these young rapscallions are pretty good – they did win last year’s Student DJ competition, after all.
MOJITO MATUTINO @ EL MOJITO(Friday)
Hot damn, now we’re talking! By far the highlight party of the weekend, newly reopened bar, El Mojito, isn’t wasting anytime in ushering in the summer. Ouzo, Shady Ezz and young up-and-comer, Justa Panda, provide the music for this epic day party at the Conrad Cairo Hotel.
THE INVISIBLE HANDS @ VENT
Bored of the constant stream of Oriental-rock bands in Cairo? Well, here’s something a little different at VENT, this weekend. The Invisible Hands is their name and grimy, grumpy, dark, psychedelic rock is their game. Plus, they have a girl in their group which automatically makes them cool.
ART AT ALCHEMY FT. DIKOTOMOUS (OFFICIAL RECEPTION)
I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’m an art aficionado of any sort, but I can appreciate a doodle every now and again. This Saturday, Alchemy introduces the latest collection of art to plaster their walls, courtesy of avant-garde project, Dikotomous – which looks awfully cool.
There’s plenty more live music, parties and other things to keep your brain ticking before the unavoidable horror of Sunday morning; check out the CG events calendar for more.
