  • Things to Do in Cairo This Weekend

    things17

It’s been a strange couple of days in Cairo, but I, like many, have become immune to the booms and the sirens – another day, another catastrophe. It’s a shame, because there’s some big things happening this weekend across Cairo’s bars and clubs – and beyond.

DISCOTECTURE FT. COYA/HASSAN ABOU ALAM @ TAMARAI
    (Thursday)

Electrum Records and Tamarai team-up for a big night of music, as Hassan Abou Alam kicks off the night before bearded Catalan DJ, Coyu, takes over, probably wearing Vans with an Absolut on the rocks in one hand and a Heineken in the other.
    __________

    GNORK @ VENT
    (Thursday)

Hungarian producer and sculptor of an alternative, dreamier form of house music, Gnork, takes to the stage at Downtown’s VENT, with the always reliable, Ahmed Samy, closing the night.
    __________

BACK 2 BASICS: THE ANNIVERSARY @ FAIRMONT NILE CITY
    (Friday)

It’s really quite remarkable that perennial party planners, Back 2 Basics, have only been around for one year – one frickin year! Having cemented themselves as one of the best on the business, B2B are celebrting in style at the Fairmont Nile City, with a line-up that includes, Mohasseb, SHawky and Pacha Ibiza resident, John Jacobson. Hell yes.
    __________

    I LOVE NACELLE WEEKEND
    (Friday-Saturday)

What is ‘love’? ‘Love’ is House Sessions at the Temple on Friday, then a day party on Saturday aboard the Maxim Boat. ‘Love’ is Aly Goede and Catz ‘n Dogz by night, and Nickodemus, Safi, Tito and the Percussion Show by day.
    __________

DESIGN EMPORIUM STREET FAIR @ EVERYWHERE
    (Wednesday-Saturday)

Gah! Saturday will be the last day of Design Emporiums big, fat interior design street fair, which is taking over showrooms and shops across Cairo, Alexandria and El Gouna – find out who, what, where and maybe even why here.

There’s plenty more to see and do this weekend across Cairo’s bars, galleries, live music venues and more – check out the CG events calendar.
