More so than most weekends, this one sees Cairo’s bars and clubs serve up a kaleidoscope of live music, parties and one binge-eat. From Cairo Jazz Club, to VENT, there’s some good stuff happening over the next few days.
CAIRO JAZZ FESTIVAL BEYOND STAGE @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
I love a bit of jazz, but I’m not going to lie – going to Al Azhar Park for the Cairo Jazz Festival does not interest me in the slightest. But as is the case so often, Cairo Jazz Club is my saviour and the CJF Beyond Stage gigs means that I can get my fix of jazz with beer in hand. On Thursday, OUM and Uss We Lazq perform, before Soopar Lox return to CJC on Friday. Saturday, meanwhile, is set to feature a triple-header of music, with Michelle Rounds, Holler My Dear and Nabil Khemir.
SEAFOOD FESTIVAL @ NAPA GRILL
This one sells itself, really. There’s nothing better after a long week that to fall into a seafood-induced coma. You might as well just go ahead and book yourself a room at the Fairmont while you’re at it.
BEATS @ AMICI ZAMALEK
I like Amici Zamalek so much that it doesn’t even matter that I have absolutely no clue who on earth Mash, Groove and Sam Shaarawy are.
NACELLE HOUSE SESSIONS @ THE TEMPLE
This weeks edition of Nacelle‘s House Sessions welcomes back Hisham Zahran, alongside In2Deep. Sick.
N/A\A @ VENT
I have no idea how one should pronounce N/A\A (n-a-a or naaaaaaa?), so I’ll just refer to him by his real name, Nader Ahmed. As a longtime member of too-cool-for-school musical collective, KIK, this is the Cairo debut for Mr Ahmed – and fellow KIK-ers have promised that it’ll be worth the wait.
There’s plenty more to sink your teeth into this weekend, with plenty of gigs, parties and other stuff to help pass the time on the CG events calendar. Check it.
