This weekend sees a host of huge events across Cairo’s bars and clubs, as Tamarai, Fairmont Nile City, Cairo Jazz Club and Nacelle gear up for a weekend of potentially epic proportions.
RED BULL TOWN HEROES: THE GRAND FINALE @ TAMARAI
Because there’s nothing more heroic than keeping a room full of Cairo clubbers happy, Baher, ToyBoys, Gawdat, Misty & Hafez are being drafted in for the grand finale of Red Bull Town Heroes at Tamarai to prove that sequels can indeed be better than the original – of you know what I mean.
AHMED HARFOUSH @ SAIGON RESTAURANT & LOUNGE
(Thursday & Friday)
It’s been a long-ass week and you’d be pressed to find anything as soothing as Ahmed Harfoush‘s voice, super-tight butt and the way hew wears a hat. Saigon in itself is quite an experience, looking like the inside of a boudoir madam’s handbag – throw some drinks and some sushi into the equation and you have quite a night on your hands.
LORNA OF CAIRO @ BAB EL NIL
Nope, wait. I’ve found something more soothing than Harfoush and her name is Lorna. The Scottish dame has earned her honorary membership as a full-blown Egyptian over the years thanks to a very set of unique skills – the most significant of which includes inexplicably hypnotic gyrating . Leave your husbands and boyfriends at home.
MAYOUNAH & ZALAAT @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Maybe I’m being OTT, but when Mayounah left Egypt, she left a hole in my heart. I tried other female DJs – even rebounded with DJ Dina at After Eight – but the heart wants what the heart wants. I want to be happy that she’s back, I really do, but I know she’s just going to leave again. Sad.
NACELLE HOUSE SESSIONS @ THE TEMPLE
While most Nacellians have been excited about the return of B-Side this week, I’m still finding plenty to enjoy and ocassionally regret with good ol’ House Sessions. This week, German DJ, Daniel Bortz, is headlining, with Hisham Zahran also waiting in the wings. Outstanding.
BONUS ‘THING’ TO DO IN CAIRO THIS WEEKEND
SEAFOOD FESTIVAL @ NAPA GRILL
Last week, the good people at the Fairmont Nile City invited me to their inaugural Seafood Festival – and it was pretty overwhelming in the most gluttonous of ways. They’re doing it all again this week. And I’m going back.
