While all eyes are looking towards Valentine’s Day, there’s plenty of decent-to-good stuff going on across Cairo’s bars & clubs beforehand. From live music, to kind-of-live laptop-inhabitant music, there’s no shortage of excuses to go out drinkin’, dancin’ and romancin’ this weekend.
MADONNA EVENING @ SAIGON RESTAURANT & LOUNGE
Fairmont Nile City‘s velvety cosmos of nightlife, Saigon Restaurant & Lounge, is celebrating the life and love of Madonna. Filling the ample bustier of the Queen of Pop is the only woman in Cairo that’s up for the challenge; the always game Ellie of London.
SHOW WIGHT & SPUNKY DYNAMITE @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Why a cool-looking cat like Show Whight would leave LA to come to the giant, douche-ridden shit farm that is Cairo is beyond me, but low and behold, this is one temporary import that seems to have talent. Kudos, CJC.
ONE FT. GAWDAT @ AMICI ZAMALEK
Amici Zamalek hosts the debut of new weekly night, ONE, with DJing double-act, Gawdat, headlining an alleged night full of surprises. More importantly, though, will the next second one of ONE be called two? HAHA, oh the jokes!
AHMED SAMY & ARTIFICIAL ANIMALS @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
VENT resident – and general musical madman – Ahmed Samy is set to shock and disgust CJC regulars with the life-destroying revelation that there are other types of music than house. The crowd will then be sent into an existential meltdown when Artificial Animals finish them off with their novel use of dubstep and trance.
NACELLE: HOUSE SESSIONS @ THE TEMPLE
Nacellians across Cairo will be flooding back to the Temple for what – for me at least – is the most exciting House Sessions of 2014 so far. That may in part be due to a completely normal and healthy obsession with Minus T that I have developed. London-based DJ, Klady, will be lurking around at some point, too.
And that’s the end of that chapter. Check out the totally cool, never-been-done CG events calendar for more gigs, parties and stuff.
