So, uh, what’s up with this weather, right? It’s like, uh, it doesn’t want to make it’s mind up; one minute it’s warm, the next is hot, and I’m all like, AAAAAHHH, what are you ! Am I right? Huh, am I right? Alright, whatever. Here are the best events across Cairo this week at Cairo Jazz Club, the Tap Riverside and more.
URBAN SUNDAY @ THE TAP
A staple of both Sundays and hip-hop and r&b nights on Cairo’s nightlife scene, Maadi bar, the Tap, kicks off its week with the disc-jockeying skills and twirly moustache of the forever cool, Ramy DJunkie.
A-SQUARED @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
2015 was a huge year for young duo, A-Squared, whose rise up the proverbial DJ ladder has been really quite impressive given that their still fairly new on the scene. This week, they celebrate one year of dropping musical bombs on yo ass, so to speak, with a special gig at Cairo Jazz Club.
MONDAY SALSA @ CHEERS
Moving into 2016, Amr Hosny and Ahmed Harfoush’s Cheers has emerged as a hugely popular spot in Maadi with locals looking for a more casually refined drinking in experience and the bar’s weekly Salsa nights are partly responsible – lesson at 9PM, free-for-all at 10PM.
THE SECOND ANNIVERSARY @ RIVERSIDE
Riverside‘s anniversary couldn’t have come at a better time, with the Zamalek venue enjoying as much popularity as it ever has thanks to a noticeable shift in its entertainment bookings, many of whom are set to perform at what is looking like a a huge night – twelve acts, one night, one terrible Thursday morning.
MOHASSEB @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
It’s been a while since Mohasseb has set-up shop at Cairo Jazz Club and it’s been particularly tough because he doesn’t seem to play anywhere else – which is fine by us, because Mohasseb + CJC = a guaranteed great night of a random-arm-based dancing and shouting ‘woooh!’ at every drop.
