With Christmas just a few days away, it’s natural that most of Cairo’s bars and clubs are waiting to blow their loads come the weekend. But until then, there are a few standout events across Egypt’s capital that are well worth a look at everywhere from big players like Cairo Jazz Club and the Tap, as well as emerging nightlife venues like Underground.
URBAN SUNDAY FT. DJ MIESH @ THE TAP
Rumour has it that the Tap have big Christmas plans in the making, but kick off the week with the durty, durty hip-hop and r&b sets of DJ Miesh, who takes charge of the decks at the Maadi bar’s weekly Urban Sunday.
KIDMIMS; + NOURRE FAHMY + SEBZZ @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
One place we are sure has big Christmas plans is Cairo Jazz Club, who are preparing for back-to-back festive parties on Thursday and Friday. Way before then, however, kidmims;, Nourre Fahmy and Sebzz make-up an impressive line-up for Manic Monday.
JAZZING BY THE RIVER XMAS @ RIVERSIDE
There are few voices who can give you that warm, fuzzy – and somehow sexy all at the same time – feeling of Christmas like Ahmed Harfoush can and the Cairo crooner returns to Zamalek’s Riverside for a special festive edition of Jazzing by the River.
MOSTAFA RIZK @ UNDERGROUND
Though he’s not as well-known has Senor Harfoush, jazz and blues singer, Mostafa Rizk, has come into the spotlight this year after the release of new album, Bab Ellouq, for his unique on-stage presence and charisma – something you can get a peek of this week at Underground.
TAXI EL SAHRA W/ RAMY DJUNKIE @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Ramy DJunkie at Cairo Jazz Club on a Wednesday usually means hip-hop and r&b, but in one of the more unique musical nights of the weeks says both parties come together for Taxi El Sahra, which will see Mr DJunkie dip into some 90s Arabic and English pop. Outstanding.
