With many a Cairo clubber still reeling from a heavy weekend – the Student DJ Finale, followed the very next day by a particularly big edition House Sessions is a pretty tough hit to take - we have some bad news. Unfortunately, Cairo’s bars and clubs – as well as one particular event organiser – aren’t letting up for the next few days. Not even a little. Here are the best of this week’s events to keep you sane till the weekend.
AGUIZI & FAHIM + OMAR SHERIF @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
A maniacal Monday night of music at Cairo Jazz Club is set to ensure you have a miserable and dehydrated Tuesday morning, as former Student DJ winners, Aguizi & Fahim, kick of proceedings with their trademark tech house, before Omar Sherif takes over with a set of nu disco and indie house.
YOUSSEF ABOUZEID + ISMAIL SELEIT @ VENT
Youssef Abouzeid – better known to most as PanSTARRS – teams up with recent VENT debutante, Ismail Seleit, for what is being described as a night of live ‘experimental noise’. If that isn’t enough vagueness to entice you to the Downtown bar/art-space, then how does ‘no reservations necessary’ sound?
WOMEN’S DAY @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
The folk at Cairo Jazz Club are marking International Women’s Day with a special night that is set to see a trio of Egypt’s best female musicians take to the stage. No-frills singer-songwriter, Aya Metwalli, is up first, before indie-pop singer, Cheen, and Dina El Wadidi take to the stage.
SPRING IN THE CITY @ FAIRMONT NILE CITY
The long-awaited return of In the City is finally here and the guys at Event Republic are back at Fairmont Nile City with a bang. Kicking off six months of fortnightly parties is Swiss DJ and producer, Croatia Squad, who will first have to make way for local favourite and night-opener, Mohasseb.
