  • Things to Do in Cairo This Week

    thingslegs

Several decent parties await this week, as Cairo’s bars & clubs welcome back familiar faces and the scene welcomes new event series. With the likes of the Garden and the Tap yet to announce their schedule for the coming days at the time of publishing (because they love making our jobs harder and don’t appreciate what it take to put together this magnificent guide) here are the best of parties from now till the euphoria of the impending weekend begins to kick on Wednesday.

GAWDAT + ABOU SAMRA @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
    (Monday)

Another big Monday night awaits at Cairo Jazz Club this week, as sibling DJ duo, Gawdat, kick off the night with their indie dance and tech house sets before Abou Samra takes over.
    __________

OF EARTH & FIRE @ ALCHEMY
    (Monday)

    Because steak.
    __________

    SHOWCASE: CHAPTER ONE @ RISAS
    (Monday)

Nightlife entrepreneurship in Cairo is rife as yet another party series is born. Chapter One of Showcase is set to welcome a trio of DJ acts, with Aguizi & Fahim headlining. Your guess is as good as ours with the others. Don’t let the fact that it’s at Risas put you off.
    _________

    $$$TAG$$$ @ VENT
    (Tuesday)

$$$TAG$$$ – aka Tag Money, aka Asem Tag, aka one of the founding fathers of VENT – brings forth his indefinable, intangible musical stylings and takes to the stage for a rare gig.
    __________

CIVILIZATION: CARLOS & VEGA + DUBFUNK @ VENUE
    (Wednesday)

They might not be the coolest names on Egypt’s cliquey DJing scene, but Carlos & Vega have achieved much more than most. With new album, Civilization, out and its namesake event series gathering momentum, it’s about time you gave them a chance – because, in the end, aren’t we all just a bunch of drunks pretending to know the difference between deep and progressive house?
