Cool experiential indie-type singers, the city’s brightest young DJing minds and the the first edition of what could become a very intriguing series of events; all this awaits clubbers across the top bars and clubs in Cairo this week as we all enjoy the temporary euphoria of having just been paid.
SHAWKY + OMAR SHERIF @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Cairo Jazz Club‘s commitment to making Monday’s manic should be applauded and this week, clubbers are invited to suckle at the tits of DJs SHawky and Omar Sherif for a nourishing night of tech house.
PRIVATE SESSIONS @ THE GARDEN
The Garden‘s marquee weekly event hasn’t been as inconsistent during this still very young year, but Private Sessions has returned to its rightful place on a Monday and this week sees Student DJ finalists, Nourre Fahmy and Mai Sebai take to the deck.
RASHA MAGDY @ VENT
She’s cool, she’s mysterious and she can pull off the whole dark lipstick look – the fact that she can sing is just a bonus on Rasha Magdy‘s path of musical experimentalism. This week, the singer, songwriter, producer and seductress of sounds performs at VENT.
SOUND CHEMISTRY @ IMPERIAL BOAT
There’s a story behind this event. In 2010, DJ Hady Tarek begun a radio show called Sound Chemistry – one that went on to garner quite an impressive cult following. Some five years later, Sound chemistry has come to life with its first live event – one that will feature Tamer Auf and Misty, too.
ELECTRO SWING NIGHT W/ HUSSEIN FAHMY @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
It seems like an unlikely combination made in the depths of musical hell, but for whatever reason, vintage swing and EDM have found a middle ground that works. It’s by no means a new phenomenon, but one that DJ Hussein Fahmy has been doing a good job of bringing to Cairo Jazz Club.
