Did you know that at one point last week, the temperature in Cairo was lower than it was in London? Did you know that I’m typing this with gloves on because the AC in our office doesn’t have a heating function? Did you know that it’s been three days since I’ve seen my testicles? It’s cold. Here are some events that may or may not be worth leaving your warm homes for.
AGUIZI & FAHIM + OUZO @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
As we await the announcement of this year’s Student DJ Final, 2013 winners, Aguizi & Fahim, remind us that dream do come true and that selling you soul to the devil that is Electrum Records doesn’t always mean doom.
HIP HOP ALL NIGHT FT. 1127 @ VENT
Certainly the most active of the lot, VENT resident, 1127, is also quickly becoming the proprietor of the Downtown bar/art-space’s best night. Why? Because hip-hop. That’s why
WINE & FONDUE NIGHT @ AMICI HELIOPOLIS
It’s back! Amici‘s Wine & Fondue Night couldn’t have returned at a better time. Dipping things into hot gooey stuff – so simple, yet so brilliant. Oh and wine, too. Oh and Riham Mustafa singing, too. But mostly hot gooey stuff.
REWIND LADIES NIGHT @GŬ BAR
After a relatively well-received New Year’s Eve party, Zamalek’s newest nightlife venue, the ridiculously named Gŭ Bar, has hit the ground-running with weekly ladies night, Rewind. Not the most innovative concept, but I’ll try everything once.
SAY WHAAAT?! FT. DJ FEEDO @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Considerably more mainstream than the type of hip-hop that will be ringing through VENT, DJ Feedo returns to Cairo Jazz Club for another edition of Say Whaaat?! Ain’t nothing wrong with a bit of mainstream, ass-clappin’ bubble-gum-rappin’ music, though.
PLAYLIST WEDNESDAYS WITH MADA MAST @ VENT
Another increasingly popular weekly fixture at VENT has been Playlist Wednesdays; it’s free, you don’t need to make reservations via email (which is super annoying) and, well, Happy Hour. Win win.
