Sigh. I’ll do my best to be enthusiastic, but I just came back from a weekend in Luxor, where it’s still hot enough to sweat by the pool and the people are sincerely nice. Sigh. This week, Cairo’s nightlife is serving up a smorgasbord of the familiar and peculiar.
METROPOLIS @ VENUE LOUNGE & BAR
Following a well-received first party, the second Metropolis event is set to bring more up-and-coming DJing talent to the masses. This week, kidmims; (aka Mai El Sabi) and Bashar Galal – of Student DJ fame – are on the line-up. How long this will last is yet to be seen, but I do quite like their artwork.
SHADY EZZ & OUZO @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
There’s very little that’s manic about Mondays, but BFF-DJs, Shady Ezz and Ouzo, are going to do their best to keep things interesting at Cairo Jazz Club this week with a night of tech house and nu disco.
PLAYLIST WEDNESDAYS FT. DEEB @ VENT
I don’t want to sound cheap, but Wednesday is quickly becoming my favourite day at VENT – mostly because it’s free to get in, but also because of Playlist Wednesdays. The Mada Masr sponsored night has given guys and gals that wouldn’t usually be seen behind the decks a chance to essentially play their favourite music. This week, it’s the best rapper in Cairo, Deeb.
DANCESTOCK FT. MANUEL DEL MARE + AGUIZI & FAHIM @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
The very last nigh of Cairo Jazz Club‘s Dancestock of the year (and this really is the last one) sees the boy-wonders known as Aguizi & Fahim open for Italian stallion, Manuel De La Mere.
B-SIDE BY NACELLE: NIGHTMARES ON WAX @ CAIRO CAPITAL CLUB
Nacellians are pretty giddy for this week’s B-Side, which is set to host Ibiza-based DJ, Nightmares on Wax. Hailing from Leeds, England (home to football hooliganism, chavs and bitterly cold weather) Mr Wax’s penchant for experimental hip-hop and soul is a perfect fit.
