In years to come, people will look through the annals of the internet, come across the always insightful Things to Do in Cairo This Week series and think, “Damn – life was tough back then.” Here’s the best of a routine week of events across Cairo’s bars & clubs. Sigh. Come on, weekend – surprise me.
MANIC MONDAY: HISHAM ZAHRAN + TAMER AUF @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
The first of two huge nights at Cairo Jazz Club sees handsome Hisham Zahran and transcendental Tamer Auf (today is big word day) play drop some musical bombs for a night of music that isn’t for the faint of heart. Shout out to the Microsoft Word thesaurus. #ShiftF7
PRIVATE SESSIONS FT. GAWDAT @ THE GARDEN
Despite preparing for ‘The Reunion’ this weekend, Ismail Kassem and the Back 2 Basics troops have still managed to find time to host another alluring and not at all repetitive edition of the Garden‘s Private Sessions, which this week welcomes back Gawdat. Again. Shout out to safe bookings.
HIPHOP ALL NIGHT W/ 1127 @ VENT
Cryptically named hip-hop hound, 1127, has fit in nicely at Downtown’s VENT as it’s newest resident and the man with no face is back on stage for night of grimey, and occasionally scary, music. Shout out to the ass-clapping type of hip-hop which has essentially been banned at VENT. I’m not ashamed to like you. #AssAssAssAssAss
TANGO NIGHT @ EL MOJITO
Las cosas se van a poner caliente y vapor en la azotea del Conrad Cairo Hotel como El Mojito da la bienvenida a los pies itchiest de El Cairo para otra noche de Tango. Shout out to Google Translate.
DANCESTOCK 2014: CHRIS JYLKKE + DJ RAMY @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
After a huge first night, the second week of this year’s Dancestock at Cairo Jazz Club sees the Boogie Monster, DJ Ramy, kick things off before Chris Jylkke headlines. Shout out to Ramy’s moustache – the real star of the show.
Shout out to the Cairo Gossip calendar, where you can find more parties, gigs, a couple of festivals and plenty of exhibitions.
