While many continue the road to post-Halloween recovery, there are some pretty decent events taking place this week across Cairo’s bars and clubs at Cairo Jazz Club, the Garden and Stage One – yes you heard correctly – amongst others. Wake up, wipe the glitter from your face and dust yourself off – for the irrepressible beast that is Cairo nightlife waits for no man.
TOYBOYS @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Cheeky duo, ToyBoys, have been conspicious in their absence in the last few months or so, but Diya Nouman and Youssef Sami return to Cairo Jazz Club for a night Deep House , Tech House, Nu-Disco and rubber duckies.
PRIVATE SESSIONS FT. MOHASSEB @ THE GARDEN
There’s a lot to say about Korba bar the Garden – some of which falls slightly on the negative side of what I like to call the ‘meh line’ – but you’re in good hands with DJ Mohasseb; a man who quite often sends clubbers into trance-like frenzies by twisting nobs and pressing buttons. That’s power, right there.
JAZZING BY THE RIVER FT. AHMED HARFOUSH @ RIVERSIDE
For an area that’s known to be the cutting edge of life and entertainment, Zamalek doesn’t really have much in the way of nightlife events, so to speak. One of the few regular occasion comes courtesy of Ahmed Harfoush, who returns to Riverside for a typically smooth night of music.
DIVA’S NIGHT @ STAGE ONE
I have a penis, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be a diva. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s quite enough to take advantage of Conrad Cairo‘s rather generous offer of free cocktails for women at Stage One’s Diva’s Night. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to try, though, obviously.
DANCESTOCK 2014: DBMM + AGUIZI & FAHIM
Cairo Jazz Club’s annual DJ extravaganza, Dancestock, kicks off this week with prepubescent nu-disco and tech house duo, Aguizi & Fahim, Swiss indie and disco-house threesome, DBMM. Click here for the rest of the Dancestock line-up – it’s pretty impressive.
