  • Things to Do in Cairo This Week

    thingsj

With beach season fading into an abyss of fleeting memories like some kind of prepubescent summer romance, things at Cairo’s bars and clubs are starting to pick up again, with the country’s top performers and DJs once again having to face the stark reality of Cairo. Innate Sunday melancholy aside, there are a handful of must-attend events that you must attend – if not for your own personal enjoyment, then at least to help me validate what it is I do for a living. Help a brother out, yo.

JAZZING BY THE RIVER FT. AHMED HARFOUSH @ RIVERSIDE RESTAURANT & LOUNGE
    (Monday)

Apart from being Egypt’s premiere hat-wearer, it seems like Ahmed Harfoush also has the country’s most accctive music libido – the man just doesn’t stop and he’s back at Zamalek’s Riverside this week.
    __________

PRIVATE SESSIONS FT. GAWDAT @ THE GARDEN
    (Monday)

Over in the west of the city – in the gorgeous area of Korba, to be precise – the Garden welcomes cheeky sibling duo, Gawdat, for this week’s edition of Private Sessions – right now, unquestionably, Cairo nightlife’s most popular weekly event.
    __________

THE VOCAL JAM NIGHT: THE DOORS TRIBUTE @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
    (Tuesday)

Often ignored when speaking of truly great front-men, Cairo’s musicians will be paying homage to Jim Morrison and the Doors for the first edition of Cairo Jazz Club’s Vocal Jam Night for quite some time.
    __________

SADEK GALLIANI @ RIVERSIDE RESTAURANT & LOUNGE
    (Tuesday)

Maybe I’m getting old, but I’ve come to find joy in the nostalgic, old-money vibe of places like Five Bells and Pub 28 – I think it’s a MILF thing. Whatever the case, Sadek Gallini oozes this very particular, rare quality and will be performing at Riverside.
    __________

THE SCHOOL OF BOOGIE FT DJ RAMY @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
    (Wednesday)

Speaking of rare, there are few Cairo DJs that incite as much giddy, foot-tapping joy as the man affectionately known as the Boogie Monster, DJ Ramy. Wednesdays at Cairo Jazz Club just wouldn’t be the same without that glorious moustache looking down at you from the DJ booth.
