So, Sahel season is over. Feeling lost? Feeling empty? Get a hobby. Nah, I’m just kidding. While things quieten down on the North Coast and the tumbleweed begins to roll, its path blocked only by empty beer cans on the beach, the spotlight is now back on Cairo’s bars and clubs. Check out a few of the things happening across the capital this week.
HAT MANIA FT. AHMED HARFOUSH @ OVERTIME BAR & RESTAURANT
Scoff if you must at the seemingly archaic nature of Overtime‘s Hat Mania, but hats are cool – always will be, too. Throw the only guy in Cairo that looks good in a pork-pie hat, Ahmed Harfoush, into the equation and…oh who am I kidding – this is daft.
PRIVATE SESSIONS @ THE GARDEN
Now, because the guys at the Garden are big teases, the DJ leading this week’s Private Sessions hasn’t been revealed just yet, but you can be safe in the knowledge that whoever it is will be at the very least one notch above tolerable.
RAINDOGS & THE BRASS KNUCKLES @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Live music at CJC this Tuesday comes in the form of two groups we don’t see very often – debuting Tom Waits cover band, Raindogs, and punk/rock cover band, the Brass Knuckles. It all sounds so aggressive.
NADER TAHAWY & OMAR SHERIF @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Not only will Nader Tahawy (aka NTahawy) and Omar Sherif be playing back-to-back at CJC, but they will also apparently face-off in a somesort of DJ Battle. I have to back my boy NTahawy on this one – check out his latest set on CG Tunes and you’ll understand why.
