This week across Cairo’s bars and clubs, we have an exhibition after-party, one of my favourite DJs in Egypt, the woman I’ve been stalking for almost a year and a kooky band from Denmark, plus the biggest interior design event Egypt has ever witnessed.
LIVING TOO LATE/ HASSAN KHAN D-CAF AFTER PARTY @ VENT
I don’t know what goes on at an exhibition opening after party, but you know it’s going to be good – these artsy types can get pretty freaky. Hassan Khan is the artiste in question and broody acoustic band, Living Too Late, shall also perform.
DJ HADY TAREK + DJ MISTY @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
(Monday)Anywhere Misty is playing I’m there. The dude is a beast on the decks and has slowly come to the top of the pile as one of the hottest DJs in Cairo – nay, Egypt. Hady Tarek opens with some uplifting house.
ELLIE OF LONDON @ SAIGON RESTAURANT & LOUNGE
Don’t you hate all these white girls coming over and taking our gals’ gigs? Lough out loud, just kidding – Ellie of London is as Egyptian as it gets and will be performing in a venue fitting of her sultry vocals, Fairmont Nile City’s Saigon.
THE MAGNETIC EAGLE @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
In one of the most interesting events of the week, Danish odd-bird Danish group, the Magnetic Eagle, bring their intangible, improvised sets to Cairo Jazz Club, with local band, Puzzle, opening.
DESIGN EMPORIUM INTERIOR DESIGN STREET FAIR @ LOTS OF DIFFERENT PLACES
Fuelled by almost a quarter of a century of bringing the best interior design to Egypt from around the world, our trendy friends at Design Emporium are launching their SS 2014 collections with a huge (exterior) street fair across showrooms across Cairo, Alexandria & Gouna. Find out more here.
For more things to do this week across Cairo, keep an eye on the Cairo Gossip events calendar. Have fun!
