This week, Cairo’s bars and clubs are going all out – from the city’s best DJs to the world’s biggest short film festival, there’s plenty to chew on this week till the clock strikes six on Thursday.
FUTURE SHORTS – WINTER 2014 @ VENT
International pop-up film festival, Future Shorts, is back in Cairo at Downtown’ s kaleidoscopic hub of culture, VENT, where the pseudo intellectuals of the city will watch and talk about the latest wave of thought provoking shorts, when they really just want to watch The Hangover.
TOYBOYS @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Diya Namoum and Youssef Sami – aka ToyBoys – are back at Cairo Jazz Club, for a night of deep disco house with ‘an exotic tribal edge’, which is definitely a real thing and not jargon.
BEYOND FT. BAHER @ AMICI ZAMALEK
Illuminati-type insignia aside, Amici Zamalek is set to welcome Nacelle resident, Baher, and young-buck, Hatem El Chiati, for a huge night – might as well call in sick on Tuesday from now.
HEINEKEN SOCCER BAR @ MARRIOTT ZAMALEK
This Tuesday sees the launch of Heineken‘s pop-up watering hole at the Marriott hotel in Zamalek – because, of course, there’s a lack of bars with TVs in Cairo. During Tuesday’s private launch event, ‘soccer’ fans can drink one brand of beer all night and watch Man Utd get beaten by a Greek team on a fuzzy projection screen, all the while getting the chance to win Heineken-branded goods and a trip to the sleaze capital of Europe, Ibiza.
MOHASSEB & FRIENDS @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Big dawg Mohasseb and his crew – Migo and N Tahawy – are taking over the Cairo Jazz Club decks for an early start to the weekend with a night of the most progressive house music this side of last week.
There’s plenty more going on this week across the city I wish would occasionally sleep; check out the CG events calendar for more.
