As a foreboding fog descends over the city, Cairo’s bars and clubs are stepping out of the wintery shadows as the weather slowly but surely warms up. This week sees a nice little mixture of familiar and unfamiliar faces, as we embark on an eventful week.
EUPHONY W/ DJ MADLOU @ AMICI ZAMALEK
Alexandria native, Madlou – who we’re told is neither angry nor mentally unstable despite his name – steps out of the shadows for awkward-to-pronounce event, Euphony, at Amici Zamalek.
ELECTRUM SHOWCASE @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Electrum Records unleashes three of its brightest, and not-yet-worn-down-from-the-scene DJs, as Mostafa Emad, Seif Bibars and Hassan Abou Alam go back0-to-back at Cairo Jazz Club.
SHOT! @ VENT
London-based punk band, SHOT!, play their second gig in Cairo – this time at alternative bar/art-space, VENT – a home away from home for lead singer and Cairo gal, May Mansour.
HIGH VOLTAGE @ CAIRO JAZZ CLUB
Proving that VENT isn’t the only place in Cairo championing underground music, Cairo Jazz Club welcomes psychedelic musical brain, Machine Eat Man, post-rock/electronica band, Telepoetic, and mysterious experimental act, Puzzle, for the latest edition of High Voltage.
EUPHORIA FT MINUS T @ ALCHEMY
My favourite DJ playing at the place I’ve embarrassed myself most while drunk – happy days! Champion of the alternative and all-round sweetie, Minus T, is adding his own little touch to Alchemy‘s Euphoria.
