Let’s take a moment of silence for those that’ll be left behind in Cairo this Easter – it’s a fate we wouldn’t wish on our worst of enemies, with several beach-side parties set for the Sham El Nessim break. Many of Cairo’s bars and clubs will admit defeat as hoards of Cairenes hot the metal to the pedal this weekend, except for one: Cairo Jazz Club.
We’ve come to expect nothing less of the most prolific nightlife venue in the country when it comes to live entertainment and the Easter break at CJC is an assortment of live music and the city’s top DJs.
Kicking off the Easter programme on Thursday is Danny ‘The Perfect Guy to Bring Home to Your Parents’ Malak, who takes to the stage with his guitar firmly strapped to torso, on a night that will also see local rock band, the Cadillacs perform.
Things take a turn for the electronic on Friday, meanwhile, with the versatile DJ Miesh pulling his commercial deep house repertoire out.
On Saturday, Basheer takes to the stage for his unique brand of Nubian-inspired music, while Sunday is set to see sultry songstress, Michelle Rounds, return to the CJC stage, before Student DJ alumni take over on Monday, with 2014 finalist, Nourre Fahmy, and 2013 winners, Aguizi & Fahim, close the programme.
And so there; being stranded in Cairo doesn't have to be the end of the world, you drama queens. Call 01068804764 for reservations.
