Among Cairo’s bars and clubs, there are few places quite like Fairmont Nile City‘s Saigon Restaurant & Lounge; great food, regular live music and a surreal feeling of being inside the handbag of a 1920′s French bordello Madam make it one of the most unique venues in the city.
On Thursday 6th of February, the drink-and-dine hotspot is kicking off the weekend with an homage to skeletal child-collector, Madonna, courtesy of vivacious British songstress, Ellie of London.
Having performed across Cairo, Ellie has gone on to find a second home at Saigon, where she - along with Ahmed Harfoush - has become a fixture at the lounge.
More accustomed to smooth jazz and big band classics, it'll be interesting - in an almost completely un-perverted way - to see how much Ellie commits to her one-night role as the Queen of Pop. Pointy cone-shaped bra thing, or no pointy cone-shaped bra thing - that is the question.
