Mark your calendars for Thursday 28th of May, Nacellians – big plans are afoot. A typical Egyptian summer may seem light-years away, but Tito, Hisham and co. are already putting together the pieces for the 2015 edition of epic three-day beach-side festival, Sandbox.
Yesterday, a Sandbox 2015 Facebook group emerged and, though details are yet to be disclosed, Cairo’s partying collective have already been whipped up into a frenzy of excitement.
These folks are excited for good reason. Having taken place at Ghazala Bay in Sahel, last year’s Sandbox hosted a stacked seven-act line-up that included Hot Since 82, Jan Blomqvist, Luis Leon and Ezekiel, as well as locals Hisham Zahran, Sebzz and Fulltone. The festival was so hot, in fact, that it earned rave reviews from Dutch magazine, Deep House Amsterdam. In addition, a pre-Sandbox warm-up gig two week prior in Cairo welcomed the talents of Italian DJ, Francesca Lombarda.
Coming almost a month earlier than last year’s, this year’s three-day extravaganza of music, booze and general beachfront tomfoolery could well be the best one yet. Nacelle has been on a hot streak as of late, with both House Sessions and B-Side still standing as two of the most popular party series in Cairo.
